David Nurse
David began his dance training with the Essex Dance Theatre, an inclusive dance community, and went on to complete The Professional Dance Diploma course at The Arts Educational Schools, London.
After working commercially and continuing to develop his teaching work David joined Union Dance as a soloist. He went on to choreograph the company and become the company’s ballet master. His work with Union Dance was seen at The Queen Elizabeth Hall, London, The Edinburgh Festival, Belgium, Italy, Holland and the National Theatres of; Turkey, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Peru and Cuba (where Union were the first British contemporary dance company to be invited to perform at The International Ballet Festival).
David was also a key part of Union's outreach and education programme. David launched adhocdance in 1996 as a vehicle for his choreographic, perfromance and dance education work.
Meet the practitioners
In 2003 David became the Director of the newly founded Magpie Dance Youth Group, an inclusive group for young people with and without learning disabilities.
David leads contemporary, ballet, special needs and GCSE Dance sessions for Essex Dance Theatre and contributes to their schools outreach programme and Performing Group sessions.
